Traditional Fishing Experience

Pull in the Sea with Your Own Hands

Experience Japan’s ancient haul-net fishing tradition on the shores of Chiba.
Catch, cook, and eat — fresh from the Pacific Ocean.

About This Experience

A 400-Year-Old Tradition, Still Alive

Jibikinami — traditional haul-net fishing — has been practiced on the Chiba coast for over four centuries. Local fishermen, using the same techniques passed down through generations, cast a massive net from the shore and haul it back to land with the help of their community.

Now you can be part of that community for a day. Grab a rope, pull alongside real fishermen, and experience a form of cooperation and connection with the sea that very few visitors ever witness.

Our Belief

The ocean gives. But only to those who show up.

There is no guarantee of a big catch. The sea decides. And that uncertainty — that honest negotiation with nature — is exactly what makes this experience unforgettable. You will work hard, laugh with strangers, and feel the weight of something real in your hands. Whatever comes up in that net, you will have earned it together. of gravel underfoot, and a guide who knows every hidden viewpoint worth the climb. This is hiking the way it was meant to be.

The Meal

Salt, fire, and the sea air are the only seasonings needed. This is the moment participants say they remember most.

The Feast

Catch-to-Table Seafood Dining

The species vary with the season — flounder, horse mackerel, sea bass, and on lucky days, lobster. Everything is grilled whole over charcoal, served with miso soup made from the cooking water, fresh pickles, and rice from the local farm next door.

Absolutely the most unique thing I did in Japan. Hauling that net with real fishermen, then eating what we caught on the beach — it sounds simple but the emotion of it stays with you. Book this.

Our family of four loved every minute. The kids were exhausted and filthy and completely happy. The fish we grilled ourselves tasted better than any restaurant. An experience, not just a tour.

I was honestly skeptical — how interesting can fishing be? Very, it turns out. The community spirit, the guide’s knowledge of the sea, the insane freshness of the food. I’ve recommended this to everyone I know.
